A desperate bogus Nigerian student contracts a marriage with an East European national; to convince the immigration authority that their marriage is genuine, they move in together and eventually fall in love with each other. Unbeknownst to the naïve young student, his bride had been a victim of economically-forced migration: she was originally trafficked into the UK for prostitution. The groom has his own secret: a wife in Nigeria. The complications that arise from these secrets eventually lead to costly tragedy. All this is happening against the background of the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union. Through their comments and narratives, the press and politicians ensure that the immigration issues remain the focus in the referendum campaign. Unwittingly, the press decide which way the referendum will go by constantly making migration the main discussion topic. The pressure is on for migrants like Hassan to sort out their immigration status before doing so becomes more difficult. Sorina offers the best, most cost-effective opportunity. But Hassan and his brother-in-law don't know that they couldn't have chosen a more unstable person.
