Charlotte Grey comes from a poverty-stricken, dysfunctional family in a small town of Michigan. She battles mental illness while enduring years of abuse and neglect from the ones that should protect her. She takes the punches to protect her autistic brother from their narcissistic mother and wonders if she will ever be good enough? Charlotte and her brother secretly plan a way to leave their abusive mother to go be with their father, who has an aggressive eye disease. When the world is against her, one boy never turned his back, and protects Charlotte from any harm that comes her way, even if it meant risking his own life.
